This is an Online course made up of self-paced eLearning followed by a live Zoom workshop.

Workplace MHFA Aotearoa programme

The Workplace MHFA Aotearoa programme is evidence-based, evidence-informed, internationally researched, and can be found in 24 countries around the world.

Just like a First Aider, Mental Health First Aider is the first responder and only needed until the appropriate professional help has arrived.
 
The program is designed to learn how to assist someone who is developing a mental health challenge, an introduction to the concept of MHFA, the impact of Mental Health challenges, and an overview of how to identify signs of EARLY intervention which could just save a life. 

Much of this Mental Health First Aid Aotearoa training will focus on the early identification of individuals facing mental health challenges. 

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the program, participants will be introduced to:

  • Identify a Mental Health Crisis, depression, suicide, substance misuse, anxiety, psychosis, 

  • Identify signs of early intervention

  • Learn communication skill to support someone with mental health challenges.

  • Just like First Aid (DRABC)  MHFA (ALGEE) 

  • Implement positive changes within the workplace regarding Mental Health

Course Requirements:


Course Prerequisites: There are no pre requisites required to do this course it is open to all adults (18 and over)

Course Delivery:
The course includes eLearning, a zoom workshop and a MHFA manual;

Self paced eLearning (5-7 hours)

  • Once you have enrolled, you will be emailed the link and voucher to redeem for your eLearning

  • The e-Learning must be completed before the Face to Face session (please ensure to leave yourself enough time)  
     

Zoom workshop (session times refer booking Page www.1lessthing.co.nz)

  • You will be emailed a Zoom link for your workshop sessions

  • You are required to have a 6hr zoom session split over two sessions with an Instructed Mental Health First Aid Facilitator

  • Proof of completing the eLearning will be required

  • Zoom workshop includes breaks
     

Mental Health First Aid manual 

  • The current Mental Health First Aid manual will be mailed to you via standard post

  • Mental Health First Aider accreditation 

  • Once you have completed both the eLearning and the zoom workshop you will be able to take a short online exam to become an accredited Mental Health First Aider There is no additional cost for this

 
Costs Requirement
 
$400 per person + GST
(there must be a minimum of 4 people booked for this workshop to take place, otherwise you will be reschedule to the next available workshop date).

6hr Online Zoom with an accredited Mental Health First Aid Aotearoa Instructor (this will be split over two sessions)

UPCOMING Online COURSES

By the end of the program participants will be able to: 

  • Define health, mental health, suicide, substance misuse, anxiety disorder, psychosis, and personality disorder 

  • Identify at risk individuals and those in crisis who may benefit from contact with a Mental Health First Aid Aotearoa trained individual 

  • Communicate effectively with those in crisis 

  • Design and implement a basic plan of action for individuals at risk or in crisis 

  • Implement positive changes within the workplace regarding Mental Health 

Upon completion of the course, you will be a certified Mental Health First Aider, valid for 3 years.
